The Journal of Turkish Social Science Research, published by Hasan Kalyoncu University, aims to contribute to the national and international literature in the field of social sciences. Our journal is a peer-reviewed, academic, and open-access journal issued twice a year (April and October).
The Journal of Turkish Social Science Research covers theoretical and applied studies conducted in the fields of Business, Economics, Psychology, Political Science and International Relations, International Trade and Logistics, Banking and Insurance, as well as related main and sub-disciplines, and publishes works in both Turkish and English.
WRITING GUIDELINES
1. Only manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere and are not currently under evaluation for publication may be submitted to the journal. Scientific research and academic writing principles must be followed. Authors are required to fill in the copyright transfer form and upload it to the system as a PDF.
2. Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be written in Turkish or English. Turkish manuscripts must be prepared according to the Turkish article template, and English manuscripts according to the English article template.
3. If the language of the manuscript is Turkish, an extended abstract in English of 500-700 words must additionally be prepared and appended to the manuscript.
4. During manuscript submission, it is mandatory to fully enter the English/Turkish titles, English/Turkish abstracts, and keywords in the “article metadata” section.
5. The manuscript must include both Turkish and English titles and abstracts. Each abstract should be approximately 100–150 words. A maximum of five keywords and at least three JEL classification codes (if applicable) must be provided.
6. The file to be uploaded to the system must be in Word format. When naming the file, avoid using spaces and punctuation marks, and ensure that the file name is not excessively long. Before submission, authors must perform a personal information check (File → Check for Issues → Inspect Document → Inspect → Document Properties and Personal Information → Remove All → Close → Save).
7. Author names, affiliations, and any information that may reveal the identity of the author(s) must not appear in the manuscript. Information such as whether the study is derived from a thesis or has been presented at a congress or symposium should not be included in the initial submission but should be communicated in the “notes to the editor” section.
8. Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word, using Times New Roman font and single line spacing. Font size should be 11 pt for the main text, 12 pt for headings, and 10 pt for footnotes. The first line of each paragraph should be indented by 1 cm. Tables and figures must fit within the page margins and be clearly legible.
9. A maximum of second-level headings may be used. Third-level and lower-level headings are not permitted.
10. Manuscripts should be carefully reviewed for spelling and grammatical accuracy prior to submission.
11. Manuscripts must comply with research and publication ethics. The originality of submissions is checked using plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate, Turnitin). Ethics committee approval is required for all qualitative or quantitative studies that involve data collection from participants through surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, or similar methods. If “Ethics Committee Approval” is required, information regarding the approval (name of the ethics committee, approval number, and date) must be stated in the “Materials and Methods” section.
12. In-text citations must be provided in parentheses. The order within the parentheses should be as follows: author(s)’ surname and year of publication.
Examples:
• … as stated (Taylor, 2010).
• … as indicated (Grundy & Moxon, 2013).
• … (Stephens & Malone, 2010; Schultz et al., 2011).
Citation format:
• Author (Year)
Example: Acemoğlu and Robinson (2012) emphasize the importance of economic institutions.
• Direct quotation:
“Trade openness is one of the fundamental determinants of economic growth” (Yılmaz, 2020, p. 45).
• Institutional sources:

13. All sources cited in the text must be included in the reference list, and sources not cited in the text must not be included. References should be listed alphabetically by authors’ surnames. The APA 7th edition style must be followed for footnotes, in-text citations, and references.

15. Manuscripts that fail to comply with any of the above requirements will not be considered for evaluation.

Publication Ethics and Ethical Responsibilities
Journal of Turkish Social Sciences Research aims to publish original articles that have not been previously published elsewhere and have not been accepted for publication by another journal. In this regard, it is the fundamental responsibility of the authors to comply with publication ethics. Manuscripts that violate publication ethics may be subject to necessary sanctions.
All stakeholders involved in the publication process are expected to adhere to ethical responsibilities. In order to prevent ethical violations, plagiarism detection software such as iThenticate, Turnitin, or intihal.net may be used. The ethical principles of the journal are determined in accordance with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors who submit manuscripts to Journal of Turkish Social Sciences Research are expected to comply with the following ethical principles:
Submitted manuscripts must be original. If authors benefit from other studies, the relevant sources must be cited appropriately and accurately.
Individuals who have not contributed to the research should not be listed as authors.
Any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the publication of the study must be clearly disclosed.
During the evaluation process, authors may be requested to provide the raw data related to their study. In such cases, authors must be ready to share the required data with the editorial board.
Authors must document that they have obtained the necessary permissions for the use of data and materials and that the required ethical approvals have been obtained. In experimental studies, informed consent from participants must be obtained.
If authors detect an error in their work during the evaluation or after publication, they are obliged to inform the editor and cooperate in the correction or retraction process.
A manuscript cannot be under consideration by more than one journal simultaneously. Manuscripts that have been previously published cannot be submitted to the journal.
Once the review process has started, no changes in authorship (such as adding, removing, or reordering authors) can be requested.
Ethics Committee Approval
Ethics committee approval is required for the following types of research:
Studies involving data collection from participants through methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, or experiments
Studies involving the use of humans or animals for scientific purposes
Clinical research conducted on humans
Experimental research conducted on animals
Retrospective studies evaluated within the scope of personal data protection legislation
It must be clearly stated in the manuscript whether ethics committee approval is required. If such approval has been obtained, the name of the institution, the date of approval, and the decision number must be clearly indicated.
For studies involving human or animal subjects, it must be declared that the research was conducted in accordance with international ethical declarations and relevant scientific guidelines.
Within this scope, the following must be stated in manuscripts submitted to the journal:
Informed consent was obtained in case reports,
Permission was obtained for the use of scales, questionnaires, or visuals belonging to other researchers,
Copyright regulations were complied with for the use of intellectual and artistic works.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
The editors of Journal of Turkish Social Sciences Research are responsible for all content published in the journal. Within this framework, the main duties of editors include:
Meeting the information needs of readers and researchers
Continuously improving the scientific quality and development of the journal
Ensuring that published studies comply with academic standards
Supporting academic freedom and diversity of ideas
Protecting intellectual property rights and ethical standards
Ensuring transparency in correction, clarification, or retraction processes when necessary
Editors’ Relations with Stakeholders
Relations with Readers
Editors should ensure that published studies contribute to the scientific literature and possess originality. They should also consider feedback from readers, researchers, and practitioners.
Relations with Authors
Editors should evaluate manuscripts based on originality, scientific merit, validity, clarity of expression, and the journal’s aims and scope. Reviewer reports should be taken into consideration and authors should be provided with clear and informative feedback.
Relations with Reviewers
Editors are responsible for selecting reviewers with appropriate expertise, ensuring that the peer review process is conducted fairly and confidentially, and identifying potential conflicts of interest. They should also maintain and update the reviewer pool regularly.
Relations with the Editorial Board
Editors must ensure that editorial board members carry out their duties in accordance with the journal’s publication policies and maintain regular communication with the board to support the journal’s development.
Editorial Process and Quality Assurance
The journal applies a double-blind peer review process. Editors are responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts are evaluated fairly, impartially, and in a timely manner.
Editors are also responsible for:
Protecting personal data
Ensuring compliance with ethical principles concerning human and animal rights
Taking precautions against academic misconduct
Maintaining the integrity of the publication record and making necessary corrections
Protecting intellectual property rights
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
All manuscripts submitted to Journal of Turkish Social Sciences Research are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers are expected to adhere to the following ethical principles:
Accept only manuscripts related to their area of expertise
Conduct the review process impartially and confidentially
Inform the editor if they detect any conflict of interest
Not retain or use the manuscripts they review after the evaluation process due to confidentiality
Provide objective, constructive, and respectful feedback
Complete the review process within the specified time
Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher of the journal, Hasan Kalyoncu University, adopts the principle of editorial independence in publication processes. The publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions and undertakes to take necessary measures against academic misconduct.

Publication Policy
Journal of Turkish Social Sciences Research is a peer-reviewed, academic, and open-access journal published twice a year (April and October).
The journal publishes theoretical and applied studies written in Turkish and English in the fields of business administration, economics, psychology, political science, international relations, international trade and logistics, banking, and insurance.
Submitted manuscripts are first subjected to a preliminary review in terms of format and content. Manuscripts that meet the formal requirements are submitted to the editorial board for reviewer assignment. Acceptance into the peer review process is not guaranteed.
Manuscripts are evaluated by at least two reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. If one review is positive and the other is negative, the final decision is made by the editors. If deemed necessary, the manuscript may be sent to a third reviewer.
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not be under consideration elsewhere and must not have been previously published. The responsibility for this lies with the authors.
