Writing Rules

Articles are evaluated by two reviewers with the blind review process. In addition, the editors in the field of Statistics and English also contribute to the editorial process.  The evaluation process of the article takes between 3-6 months on average.

Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences is committed to academic, professional legal and ethical standards in publishing.


Turkish manuscripts should include an English abstract of 150 to 200 words and English manuscripts should include a Turkish abstract of 150 to 200 words. The abstract should include the purpose, method, scope, and main findings of the study.

Manuscripts are submitted online through dergipark system (dergipark.org.tr).

Authors are supposed to upload their manuscripts after writing and editing in light of the journal’s manuscript template.

Manuscripts are supposed to be written on Microsoft Word 2000 version or higher in Times New Roman font.

Language and wording should comply with academic standards, and be precise and fluent.

Manuscripts should be based on a well-defined research problem and titles should be chosen accordingly. References should be rich enough to reflect the scope of the research.

Authors are asked to upload an anonymous version of the manuscript. Title, institution, address, phone number, and e-mail address should be reported separately.

TYPOGRAPHY

Page margins should be 2,5 cm on all sides.

Times New Roman font size 12 should be used with a line spacing of 1.5.

Paragraphs should be justified.

The indent should be 1,25cm.

Running head of the manuscript should be written in all capital letters at the top left of the page as a header. The author’s name must not be written as a header or footer. This would violate the transparency of the review process.

The block quotation should be indented at 1,25cm. Remember to cite the reference at the end (source, year, page number).



TEXT FORMAT

In APA, the text is divided into sections. Main sections are in the order of: Title, Abstract, Introduction (this journal requires a separate title for theoretical framework), Methodology, Findings, Discussion, Endnotes (if any), Appendices (if any), and References.



MANUSCRIPT TITLE

Manuscript title should be written on the first page. The full title should be center aligned with all initials capitalized.

Following the full title, on “Author’s Note” section, author’s rewards or if the manuscript is derived from a study should be acknowledged as left aligned, at the end of the page.



ABSTRACT

Manuscripts should include an abstract of 150-250 words (Turkish and English, the abstract in the language of the manuscript is placed first). The title of the abstract should be “Öz” and “Abstract”. Each manuscript should include 3-5 keywords which are italicized and indented 1,25cm.



SUB-TITLES

The body should be indented 1, 25 cm and double-spaced. APA style requires maximum five levels of heading which are given in the following paragraph. As your text is assumed to start with Introduction section, the word Introduction should not be used as the first heading.

Two separate paragraphs are formed for the first two headings. 3rd, 4th, and 5th headings are those written at the beginning of the paragraph.

CITATIONS

In-text citations should comply with the related style.

This journal requires the author(s) name(s), publication year, and the page number in in-text citations.

Both the paraphrase of the author(s)’ own statement and direct citations (author’s sentences in inverted commas or block citations) should be provided with page number in parenthesis.

If the citation does not have source pages (i.e, an Internet source), the number of the paragraph of the cited part should be written by placing with x (Author, Year, para.x).



TABLES, FIGURES, GRAPHS

If cited, the source should be given. The source should be placed right under the table, figure, graph or picture in size 10, single spaced, normal, and should not exceed the size of the table, figure, graph and picture. Other information to be written under should be given after the source in line with the rules.

APPENDICES

Appendices should be given before the reference list. In-text citation to appendices should be as “APPENDIX Table: 1, APPENDIX Figure: 7 or APPENDIX Graph: 5”.



REFERENCE LIST

Each cited source (except for classical texts and personal communications) should be added to Reference List. No source that is not cited in the text is given place in Reference List.

The latest edition of the source should be cited.

The page number and volume of the paper should be added, if any.

DOI number should be added to the end of the reference, if any.

If you prefer to list references on Microsoft Word, you can follow the steps below. Our preference is using Microsoft Word, which will cancel out margin of error.

Before starting to write, on the “References” tab, click “Manage Sources” and “Style” and choose APA Sixth Edition”.

Click “Manage Sources” and choose “New” then add each source one by one.

While writing on Word, after each citation, click on the “References” tab and choose “Insert Citation” and click on “Add New Source”. Save the information on the source in the opened tab. By doing so, you will be inserting sources into the system.

After finishing the writing, on the “References” tab, when you click on References => “Add a Reference”, all your cited sources will be properly added to the end of the text.

If you prefer to list your references automatically or by yourself you should follow the rules below.

Sources are alphabetically ordered according to surnames of the authors. If the author is anonymous, name of the source is written. If more than one source from the same author is cited, they are chronologically listed. If more than one works by the same author in the same year are cited, use lower-case letters (a, b, c) with the year to order the entries in the reference list as “2009a”, “2009b”.

Books

In the Reference List, in the order of author’s surname, initial of the first name (sometimes the first two names), year of publication (in parenthesis), name of the source, publication information are written separated by dots. Name of the book is written in italicized lower case after the initial of the name (except for proper names).

Book with One Author or Editor

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) is entirely in lower case. Place of printing: Publisher.

Editor's Last Name, Editor's First Name. (Ed.). (Year). The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is entirely in lower case. Place of printing: Publisher.

Book with Two or More Authors or an Editor

First Author's Surname, Initials of the First Author's First Name. and Second Author's Surname, Initials of the Second Author's First Name. (Year). The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is entirely in lower case. Place: Publisher.

Edited or Extended Editions

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is entirely in lower case (x / x extended edition). Place of printing: Publisher.

d) Books without author(s)

The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is entirely in lower case. (Year). Place: Publisher.

e) Books consisting of two or more volumes

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is entirely in lower case (x. volume) Place of printing: Publisher.

f) Translated books

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is entirely in lower case. (First Name of Translator's Name, Translator's Last Name, Trans.) Print Location: Publisher.

g) Compilation Articles

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the article. The title of the book is italicized and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is in lower case (pp. page number range). Place of printing: Publisher.

h) A Text or Section in Compilation

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the article. The initials of the Editor's Name. The last Name of the Editor (Ed.), The title of the book is italic, and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is in lower case (pp. page number range). Place of printing: Publisher.

i) Section or Text in the Reference Books

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the article. The title of the book is italicized and after the first letter (except for special names) the rest is in lower case (pp. page number range). Place of printing: Publisher.

For Journal Articles:

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year, if any month). The name of the article, only the first letter of the first word is small if the rest are not private names. a) Films

Surname of the Director, Initials of the Director's Name. (Director). (Year). Name of the film is italic. Production city: The name of the production company.

b) Internet resources

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Date of publication of the manuscript). The name of the article is italicized, only the first letter of the first word is capital, if the rest are not private names they are not capital. Access date: Day Month Year, post link.



c) Unpublished masters / doctoral dissertations

Surname of the Author, Initials of the Author's Name. (Year). The title of the dissertation is italicized, only the first letter of the first word is capital, if the rest are not private names they are not capital (Unpublished Master / PhD Thesis). Name of Institution, Place of Institution.
