Abstract

As a leadership conceptualization that has been on the agenda since the 1990s, the scope of studies on toxic leadership is gradually expanding and it still maintains its place as a research topic related to leadership. Studies on the subject show that toxic leadership is at a significant level in organizations. Skills in improving the competencies, motivation and spiritual aspects of employees in order for organizations to achieve their corporate goals are among the main qualifications sought from effective leaders today. Toxic leadership is described as the dark side of leadership. The negative effects of toxic leaders on their followers and even their colleagues can lead to devastation and disappointment in organizational members in the above-mentioned ways. In this respect, there is a need to prevent the spread of toxic leadership and to determine and implement some strategies and methods in this regard. The aim of this study is to reveal the basic dimensions of toxic leadership based on literature review, to make some evaluations in line with the strategies for dealing with toxic leaders determined by Jean Lipman-Blueman, and to develop some suggestions for research and practice.
