Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of fatigue and social support on functional capacity in rheumatoid arthritis.. The sample of the study consisted of 139 patients who received outpatient treatment and diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in the rheumatology outpatient clinic of university hospital. The data were collected by ‘Patient Information Form, Bristol Rheumatoid Arthritis Fatigue Multidimensional Questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Stanford Health Assessment Questionnaire’,. Analysis of research data was done using IBM SPSS for Windows Version 21.0 package program. In the study, it was defined that the most important predictor of the functional capacity of RA patients was fatigue, patients with morning stiffness had difficulties while performing their daily life activities, half of the patients lost their work and those patients with high disease activity score perceived social support lower. Knowing the role of nurses in the management of patients' functional capacities and fatigue, it is important to participate in the treatment process with other healthcare team members and to relax patients. It is thought that the inclusion of patients in activities such as appropriate training programs, participation in associations, and social environments will reduce their anxiety and depression levels, and establishing a social support network will enable them to cope with their chronic diseases effectively.

Romatoid Artritte Yorgunluk ve Sosyal Desteğin Fonksiyonel Kapasite Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışma romatoid artritte yorgunluk ve sosyal desteğin fonksiyonel kapasite üzerine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, bir üniversite hastanesinin romatoloji polikliniğinde ayaktan tedavi gören ve romatoid artrit (RA) tanılı 139 hasta oluşturmuştur. Veriler “Hasta Bilgi Formu”, “Bristol Romatoid Artrit Yorgunluğu Çok Boyutlu Anketi”, “Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği”, “Stanford Sağlık Değerlendirme Anketi” ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin analizi IBM SPSS for Windows Version 21.0 paket programı kullanılarak yapılmıştır.
